Jean-Paul founded Equitation Logique on the principle that the ultimate riding experience can only be obtained through the logical and deliberate evaluation of the physical interaction between the horse and rider. If one can understand the physical characteristics, anatomy, and mechanics of the horse, evaluate the capabilities and physical characteristics of the rider, and ascertain how they interact, one can minimize or eliminate weaknesses, capitalize on the horse's strengths, and improve the collaboration between horse and rider, and ultimately their overall performance.
His philosophy is: " Every position of the rider has a value to the horse. The rider should be aware of this and influence the horse with their position. Too many riders try to dictate what they want the horse to do instead of creating and updating a logical position for the horse to interpret the rider's intention."
